Plain, reviewed from the public record

Plain fits a short daily break: seven timed estimates, a shared puzzle, and a published scoring formula. Its strengths are a clear endpoint and learning from each reveal; longer sessions depend on separate modes or other games.

A short flight is the product: seven rounds, then you are done until midnight in New York.

The official rules publish the ratio-based formula and a worked mountain example.

What you actually get

One puzzle a day, shared worldwide, seven rounds of thirty seconds. You name something close to a target or you type a number. Points become height at ten metres each. One hidden round doubles. The how-to-play page prints the formula and a five-mountain example, so you can see why Denali at 6,190 m is a Dialed on a 6,200 m target and Ben Nevis is not. That transparency is the part I would keep even if the theme changed.

What you do not get, as of this check

The about page still says there is no endless feed. Past days are readable and not replayable for a score. There is no native app. Competitive is a separate live mode, seven number questions at fifteen seconds, and the creator said a bot fills an empty seat after fifteen seconds. A 3 Nov 2026 reply on the launch thread said the unlimited modes people had found were not the creator’s, and that a proper one was planned. Until that page changes, “unlimited” is not a feature I can review.

Who it is for

It fits a coffee-break habit: one sitting, a streak, a comparison with a friend who had the same targets. It fits less well if you want a long session, a campaign, or a board on the table. Those are other searches, and this site splits them out so this review stays about playplain.app.

The early comments

The launch discussion on r/playmygame is an early, self-selected feedback sample. The research snapshot captured the creator’s replies about an upcoming unlimited mode and bots filling a matchmaking gap. Those are single-source statements by the person replying, not a measurement of how often the game uses bots or a confirmed release date. See unlimited and the FAQ.

If you want the rules without the opinion, start at how to play. If you want a different daily habit, the comparison is games like Plain.
